DataNet Workshop “Identity and Data in Local Authorities” (Jan 9th, 2020 UCL)

Led by GovTech Lab’s CTO Dr. Catherine Mulligan, a workshop was held investigating the role of identity and data in Local Authorities and the role that emerging technologies can play in the management of local authority aims.

Proceedings began with an introduction to the GovTech Lab project ‘DataNet’. This was followed by a series of presentations; namely –

  • “India Stack – past, present, future”: Tanuj Bhojwani (iSpirit – India)
  • “Perspectives on Blockchain”: Denis Pitcher (Government of Bermuda)
  • “Digital Transformation of London Boroughs”: Fin Kelly
  •  “Hyperledger Indy”: Marta Piekarska

Round table discussions took place that looked at looked in more detail at themes raised in the presentations. These round tables were greatly informed by the London council of Brent’s participants, who were able to feed in real-world examples, experience and practice.
